The MakerLab is located in T-1034 (T-Building). It is open Mondays and Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4 to 9 p.m.
A MakerLab assistant will be available to help with any questions.
The MakerLab is excited to be a partner in opening a new lab at JJC's Romeoville Campus in RMA 1000 right by the lobby. The lab is available to JJC students, staff and faculty, as well as MakerLab members.
Appointments for 3D printing are available Mondays and Wednesdays from 4 to 9 p.m. and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Send an email to makerlab@jjc.edu to secure your spot.
Days and times for virtual reality (ages 13 and up) vary week to week. Send an email to ccase@jjc.edu to schedule an appointment.

A MakerLab is an open community lab that includes elements from machine shops, workshops, design studios and collaborative spaces. MakerLabs encourage innovation. These spaces are unique because not only do lab users have access to tools, but they have access to each other's skills and knowledge.

Hours of operation are Mondays and Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4 to 9 p.m.

To help keep the cost of memberships low, we charge a nominal fee for any materials you use while in the MakerLab. Please contact the MakerLab for more information regarding the current fees. You will be invoiced for your material fees. If you have received an invoice, please click the button below to pay your fees.
Members can bring their own materials, but they must be approved by staff first.

These prices are only a starting point. Every project is priced individually. We take into account the cost of materials, amount of hands-on time and machine usage. For an exact cost of your project, please contact us for a quote at makerlab@jjc.edu.
*Please note: Our prices are considered quite reasonable for the industry, however, our turnaround may be slower than what you may expect. Deadlines are dependent on MakerLab priorities of community and student access.
After taking a break from classes over the summer, we are offering a variety of NEW classes and events for kids and adults this fall. MakerLab class offerings can be viewed in the current Community & Continuing Education catalog or in the tabs below.
Explore all that you can do with 3D printing and virtual reality in Romeoville! JJC employees will be on hand to discuss your project ideas and help you become familiar with the lab's equipment. Registration for this free event is appreciated, but walk-ins are welcome.

There will be a mandatory free information session to allow students to meet with the instructor, review course objectives and ask specific questions before enrolling.

In this hands-on class, participants will assemble a basic 3D printer with full guidance from an experienced instructor. Topics will cover how to maintain and operate the machine as well as the basics of 3D printing. Each student will take home their assembled 3D printer and a full roll of filament. No prior experience is required. There will be a mandatory free information on Wednesday, Sept. 6 at 7 p.m. Enrollment for the build course will not open until after the info session. Kits will be ordered after registration closes; no refunds will be issued after the order is placed. A 3D-printing class for the whole family! Each adult/child team will learn how to 3D print a Halloween-themed model card kit to assemble. While it's printing, teams will receive a pre-printed kit to assemble and paint in class. *Please Note: Each paid registration covers one adult and one child from the same household. Join us for some festive, 3D printing holiday fun! Students will get to choose, create and 3D print a holiday-themed cookie cutter. Holiday Special: Register for Ho Ho Ho and Cookie Dough! (LLC 1225) on Dec. 11 to put your 3D-printed cookie cutter to the test. Students who register for both classes will receive $10 off.

In the first session, create your own maze puzzle using pre-designed 3D models and tweaking them to your preferences in TinkerCAD. In the second session, 3D print and assemble the project, then take it home to aMAZE your friends and family! Please Note: Students must register for a free Autodesk TickerCAD account to participate in the class.

Jewelry is the perfect way to show off your 3D-printing skills! In this class, you'll select an earring design and print it on the 3D printers. While that pair prints, you'll decorate a second pair of pre-printed earrings with paint, crystals and other decorative components. By the end of class, you'll take home two pairs of personalized earrings!

Create a spooky cemetery with black cats, entry gate, headstones, scary trees and ghosts. Prefer something spooky or a little cuter? It's up to you! Painting supplies will be available to add the finishing touches.

Keep your remote control safe and sound with a customized holder. During this 2-day class, you'll be introduced to the basics of 3D modeling with TinkerCAD by creating a basic design for your remote holder and customizing it to your needs. In the second session, you'll 3D print the project. Please Note: Students must register for a free Autodesk TinkerCAD account to participate in the class.

Model your own snowflake to 3D print in class. These prints can be used for festive earrings, holiday ornaments or window decorations. Please Note: Students must register for a free Autodesk TinkerCAD account to participate in the class.

Create a glowing Christmas village. Make a custom mini village with buildings, snow, decorative accents and fairy lights. Painting supplies will be available to add the finishing touch to your project.
