The President’s Diversity and Inclusion Council advocates and champion’s diversity and inclusion efforts that prioritize our commitment to the core values of respect and inclusion. The Council will ensure the college community is a place where everyone feels welcomed, empowered and safe.

The President’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Council Chair is Dr. Escortina Ervin, Executive Director, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Compliance and the Co-chair is Erin Farmer, Program Manager, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Compliance.

In 2019, JJC students, faculty and staff participated in a Diversity Climate Assessment that included both a survey and focus groups. JJC also hosted a Community Dinner where District 525 community leaders shared their feedback on diversity and inclusion at JJC.
With this feedback, we created a DEI Plan. These four key goal areas were identified:
